C. Rallo is Serious about Safety

Safety at C. Rallo is not just a corporate goal - it is a requirement. We realize that the construction business can be dangerous and unpredictable, so we take the necessary steps to provide our employees with the best safety guidelines and protection available.

We value safety so highly that we have developed a written policy governing all field operations. C. Rallo has developed this safety program to ensure a safe work environment for employees, clients and the general public alike. All our employees must adhere to this safety program as well as the safety rules, instructions, and procedures associated with it.

C. Rallo’s Corporate Safety Manual includes our written Safety Program which is based on the regulations of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (O.S.H.A.) – in fact, our safety program often goes above and beyond these federal requirements. The C. Rallo safety program is continually reviewed and revised as new procedures are developed.

C. Rallo believes that all accidents, near misses, and injuries can be prevented. The following techniques help our employees identify danger and prevent risk or injury.

  • Take the time to think about safety before taking action.
  • Observe and communicate with others.
  • When in doubt about a specific task, ask for help.

Our Commitment to Safety

C. Rallo’s commitment to safety ensures employees, clients, work-site guests and the public are provided with a safe, efficient and healthy workplace environment. Employees are encouraged to actively participate in Job-Site Safety Meetings and communicate with others on the job to make sure job duties, safety guidelines and suggestions are clear to everyone.

The Safety Director, Project Superintendents, Craft Foreman, and all other C. Rallo employees have the full support of management in enforcing the provisions of our safety policy. Because of C. Rallo’s dedication to safety on the job, our Experience Modification Rate (EMR) has been steadily going down and is currently at 0.89 for fiscal year 2004.

Proper orientation of a new employee or an employee assigned to a new task or job is the first step in accident prevention. It is also a C. Rallo Contracting requirement before any employee starts work. The orientation is as detailed as possible and fully explains job conditions and proper work practices. Only the safest procedures are employed to perform any job task. The orientation sets the tone for the importance of safety on the jobsite.

C. Rallo’s management team is responsible for establishing rules and programs designed to promote safety and make these known to all employees, as well as providing all supervisors with copies of appropriate rules and regulations, and giving the authority to stop any work activities that place anyone’s heath and/or property in danger. They are also committed to reviewing and analyzing accident and near miss reports to detect trends or problem areas and address them with appropriate corrective efforts.

Working together, C. Rallo’s workers, supervisors and managers ensure that all operations are safe. They maintain a clean, orderly work environment to make sure work is performed in the safest manner possible, and constantly review safety protocols and guidelines so everyone involved in the construction process benefits from the best practices and standards.
